If accommodation for short sentence Prisoners (6 months & under) were provided in a hut or elsewhere, the present Gaol could, at a reasonable cost, be converted into a separate system Gaol, able to accommodate the present average number of Prisoners, sentenced to over six months imprisonment - and if this were done, it might become worth considering, whether the building of a new Gaol might not be postponed for a few years, until the finances of the Colony are in a more favorable condition.
